AN INDIE band from Moray are set to make their festival debut when they hit the stage at T-urra in the Park this April.

The Acrylics, formed by four local teenagers at the start of 2021, have already played a couple of local gigs – but the week-long festival in Turriff will be their biggest yet.

Lead guitarist Jay Taulier, from Elgin, said: "We were delighted we managed to get ourselves on the bill.

"One of the organisers saw a gig we played in Buckie and enjoyed it so asked us to play.

"It will be the biggest thing we've been involved with and it'll be great to be on the line-up with bands like Toploader and Scouting for Girls."

Events at T-urra in the Park are due to take place across two weekends between Friday, April 22, and Sunday, May 1.

The Acrylics will play on the second weekend – on Saturday, April 30 – alongside Toploader, Scouting for Girls and Eskimo Blonde.

Guitarist Jay is joined in the band by singer and rhythm guitarist Callum Cowie, from Portgordon, bassist Blair Gillies, from Burghead, and drummer Flynn SP, from Aberlour.

Jay said the group have been inspired by some of the most prominent Britpop bands.

"Our biggest inspiration is probably Oasis," he said. "As well as The Stone Roses.

"At our gig at Victoria Park in Buckie and played two originals, with the rest being Oasis, Roses and James covers.

"We had a good crowd there, there were more than 120 people which exceeded our expectations, so we are hoping for a bit more of that local support."

You can listen to the band's debut single Ombre on Spotify and YouTube, and follow the band on Facebook and Instagram.
