Moray primary school pupil (10) wins national art competition
A 10-year-old from Moray has beaten artists from across Scotland to win a national competition.
Millbank Primary School pupil Stevie Thomson has won Scotmid’s national art competition held in partnership with the RNLI.
His design celebrates the RNLI’s 200 years of saving lives at sea and depicts one of the organisation’s lifeboats.
The artwork will be featured on the cover of Scotmid’s magazine, Jigsaw.
Stevie was surprised at school when the RNLI mascot presented him with a framed copy of his winning artwork and a goodie bag of nautical gifts.
Siobhan Sandbach, Scotmid Membership & Community Manager, who joined the surprise visit, said: "This competition is a wonderful way to commemorate the RNLI’s 200th anniversary and celebrate the creativity of young artists like Stevie.
“It has been a privilege to partner with the RNLI and support their invaluable work."
The competition is part of Scotmid’s annual charity partnership with the RNLI, which aims to raise funds for a new Atlantic 85 relief lifeboat.
The partnership runs until August 2024.
