TWO Moray businessmen have launched a new venture to provide a disinfectant service which will help businesses protect customers and staff from Covid-19.

Dave McCrea and Lowrie Thorpe, who runs a successful cleaning business, are behind Sanitise Scotland which uses micro-shield technology to fight bacteria and viruses in offices and work spaces.

The fledgling company already has two vans on the road and expansion plans could see this rise to 10 in the near future if demand grows as expected.

"We did a lot of research into pandemics and the after effects of this could be around for up to three years," said Mr McCrea.

"Everybody is looking for solutions that are going to keep staff and customers safe."

The new business, based in Elgin, uses existing nano-technology from Zoono UK.

Metro London and the London Underground are already using the product to provide a level of protection against coronavirus.

Mr McCrea, who is also a partner in Horizon Blinds, said its Elgin premises were treated to showcase the product, which is manufactured in the UK, locally to staff.

"We can provide fogging for businesses and retail premises, even taxis. There are a whole host of applications," he added.

Fogging is where a work or domestic surface is covered in a mono-molecular layer that bonds to the surface and it carries on working for up to 30 days on surfaces, while regular cleaning can be continued.

In businesses with a lot of high contact areas, Sanitise Scotland will do a pre-treatment on things such as telephones, light switches and door handles.

As well as offering a regular professional service by their engineers, the company can also sell hand-held devices that people can use themselves, which can range in cost from as little as £150 to more than £3000.

The firm will pre-treat all high contact areas in a business or office.
