A MORAY mum and businesswoman with a passion for social media has set up a mentoring service for people taking their budding business ideas into the online space for the first time.

Kate Sansum, from Elgin, who runs the online fitness and wellbeing website Kate's Club, has partnered up with a web design firm to set up a virtual "Dragon's Den".

She believes that her idea can assist people who may have been forced by the coronavirus crisis into taking a leap in a new business direction.

The concept is to guide people who successfully pitch their business ideas through what she describes as an online "minefield", avoiding costly traps that she has learned of through her experience, to set up a web presence or transfer a current business online.

Kate came up with the plan when she looked at updating her own social media and websites. She approached web design company Cloud 9 and was so impressed with the results that she formed a partnership with the firm.

The aim is to mentor people to create an effective online presence, with ongoing support, in return for 20% equity in the fledgling business.

Kate said: "When I first started out I made mistakes that cost me tens of thousands and I also invested tens of thousands in education, travel and courses to get the best information out there.

"I will bring all this knowledge to our new partners so they don’t make the same mistakes that I did and that they don’t have to spend years of research like I did before they start earning money."
