APPLICATIONS for one-off restart grants of £8000 are being accepted from eligible businesses in Moray.

Moray Council is administering the Discretionary Business Restart Grant, which could be available to those businesses paying non-domestic rates that haven’t been able to access any funding since October last year, with the exception of discretionary funding.

This fund operates on a first-come, first-served basis and closes once the allocated budget is spent.

It is aimed at mitigating the financial challenges for businesses impacted by pandemic restrictions since October last year.

The council’s head of economic growth and development, Jim Grant, said: "We’re anticipating this fund could help tradespeople who have been restricted from entering people’s homes; garages and repair workshops; newsagents, takeaways and other retail with a reduced footfall; and kennels and catteries that have been restricted and business affected as a result.

"We expect to receive a large number of applications, so please include all supporting documentation, bear with us and do not chase applications. We will contact you as soon as we’re able to."

Eligibility criteria and how to apply are available on the council’s website.
