Over 700 guests, including the London's mayor Sadiq Khan, attended the Asian Curry Awards, which were held at the Grosvenor House Hotel on Sunday.

A team also travelled down to the capital from Panache, which changed its name earlier in the year from the Akash.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Khan praised the contribution of the Britain's Asian restaurants to the national fabric.

He said: "By bringing the best of Asian culinary traditions to these shores, these restaurants have expanded not only the choice of food available to the British public, but our very identity as an open, inclusive and multicultural nation."
