We revealed last month how Ashleigh More, from Hopeman, had been seen on the Scaley Rock in her home village.

The Edinburgh-based actress has gone to mermaid school to learn the art of free diving so she can take to the water.

Ashleigh has joined forces with The Northern Scot for a special event next Tuesday, June 29 at the east beach in Hopeman.

She will be there from 10am to 12noon and is looking forward to meeting some of her young fans.

You can come and get your photo taken with the Moray Firth Mermaid in return for a donation to the Ladybird Group in Lossiemouth, which caters for young children with additional needs.

Although the event is outside, we still ask people to adhere closely to social distancing when at the beach. To get your photo taken with the mermaid as a family group, please email newsdesk@northern-scot.co.uk

There will be slots every five minutes from 10am until noon.
