Flood alert issued for Moray as Storm Dennis approaches

By Jonathan Clark

A FLOOD alert covering the vast majority of Moray has been issued ahead of the arrival of Storm Dennis.

Just after the departure of Storm Ciara last week, Dennis has arrived and is set to batter parts of the north-east.

A flood warning has been issued for Nairn, Moray and Speyside – covering Forres, Elgin, Aberlour, Dufftown and parts of Buckie.

Storm Dennis is set to batter large parts of Moray.

The message, issued today just before 2pm, will remain in place until further notice.

There is an increased risk of flooding, which may cause travel disruptions and create difficult driving conditions.

Further rain and snowmelt is expected on Saturday, causing river levels to continue to rise. Impacts could continue into Sunday.

Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) have urged people to "remain vigilant" and "take actions which help protect yourself and your property".
