Moray kirk welcomes new minister

THE congregations of Findochty and Portknockie Church of Scotland have welcomed a new minister.

Reverend Dr Jaco Boonzaaier was inducted last Thursday in Portknockie Church during a service described as dignified and moving.

Dr Boonzaaier originates from South Africa and came to Scotland in January 2014, working as assistant minister at St Columba’s Church of Scotland in Stirling for a year.

He is married to Moya and they have two daughters, Simone and Monique.

Before his move to Scotland, he spent 18 years as a minister with the Dutch Reformed Church in Namibia and South Africa.

Following the service a welcome social was held in Findochty Church hall.

Dr Boonzaaier moved to the Moray charge from Broxburn Parish Church, in Edinburgh.
