A 28-year-old Elgin man scuffled with police officers after his handcuffs were unlocked so he could remove a piercing.

Dean Wells was at the town's police station on November 13 when the offence took place.

Speaking at Inverness Sheriff Court, fiscal depute Robert Weir said: "At the charge bar, his handcuffs were being briefly removed to allow him the opportunity to remove a piercing.

"He then became agitated and made demands to be placed straight in a cell.

"He then lunged forward towards the charge bar despite being held by the constables.

"He threw himself back against the door and continued to struggle."

Mr Weir added: "The constables had to restrain him to the ground to gain control."

Wells, described in court as an Inverness prisoner, admitted a charge of resisting arrest.

His sentence was deferred until April 12 for a background report.
