After a 40-year break, the Gordon Castle Highland Games made a return to Fochabers as part of the village’s bi-centenary celebrations. The event drew a crowd of over 6,000 people and was organised by Lt. General Sir George Gordon Lennox, Gordon Castle and a dedicated committee.
The day was marked by notable appearances, including the High Commissioner for Canada, Paul Martin, and Moray’s Lord Lieutenant, Iain Tennant. The atmosphere was filled with the sounds of the Pipes and Drums of the Gordon Highlanders, the Strathisla Pipe Band, and the Gordon Highlanders Military Band. Spectators were also treated to a thrilling display from the Scottish Division of the Golden Lions free-fall parachute team.
A full programme of traditional Highland Games activities, featuring athletics, Highland dancing, track and field events and heavyweight competitions took place on the day.
All profits from the event were donated to benefit the boys and girls of Fochabers.
