Moray Memories: What did Elgin city centre look like in 1994?

Moray Memories will look back at The Northern Scot archives every Friday, with pictures and articles from events in years gone by in Moray. Can you spot anyone you recognise in any of the pictures? Make sure to join the conversation on our Facebook and tag anyone you recognise in the comments.

This week we look back to 1994 and a glimpse into Elgin’s city centre, showing shops and restaurants that were once at the heart of the community.

These scenes from Elgin High Street, South Street, and several other city centre locations show shops such as Junners, ESP, Granada, and Saxone, all of which were familiar names to at the time.

Restaurants and cafés from the era are also shown, including The Lido, Audrey’s Tearooms, and Olivers. Olivers is fondly remembered for its famous Superbuns, a treat that delighted many visitors over the years.
