Lockdown restrictions in Moray might be reduced on Monday, Nicola Sturgeon has said.

The First Minister has stated this afternoon that Moray – along with the Highlands, Orkney, Shetland and the Western Isles – could be classed as level one under the new five-tier system being introduced.

Level one would allow six people from two households in Moray to meet either inside or out.

The First Minister stated that the central belt areas currently under the strictest measures will probably be level three from Monday onwards, which is broadly similar to the restrictions in place at present.

Meanwhile the rest of Scotland will be level two.

Levels of restrictions:

  • Zero (Nearly normal): A maximum of eight people from three households can meet indoors. A total of 15 people from five households can meet outside
  • One (Medium): Six people from two households can meet inside and out.
  • Two (High): No indoor meetings with other households. Six people from two households can meet outdoors or in hospitality settings. Pubs allowed to sell alcohol indoors only with a main meal - and time restrictions may apply.
  • Three (Very High): No alcohol sales indoors or outside. Restaurants may be able to stay open under strict conditions.

Four (Lockdown): Non-essential shops forced to close.
