A Moray mother-of-three has had her jail term increased after she admitted a long list of offences.

Ellie-may Devlin was originally sent to prison in June for breaking into the Marine Hotel in Buckie.

The 26-year-old appeared yesterday at Elgin Sheriff Court via a video link.

The court first heard that at about 9am on April 29, 2021 the police had been called to Devlin's house on Newmill Road, Elgin following reports of a disturbance.

While still outside the officers heard shouting and the sound of items being thrown about.

After entering they encountered Devlin standing with a glass bottle of Buckfast in her hand.

Fiscal depute Karen Poke said: "The defendant transferred the bottle to her other hand and took hold of it around the neck.

"The officers were of the opinion that she was going to use it as a weapon and therefore disarmed her."

Devlin also admitted seven breaches of night-time curfews imposed by the court.

These took place over the course of 17 months and related to four different properties in Keith, Findochty, Buckie and Elgin where she'd lived since August 2020.

The court heard that either she'd been out or had failed to answer the door when the police called.

In addition, Devlin pleaded guilty to four shoplifting offences.

Between February 15 and March 20 last year she stole a total £800 of whisky from Tesco in Forres, having first removed the security tags from the bottles.

She has stole items from the Buckie Co-op on May 6 last year.

Defence solicitor Clare Russell said: "A lot of this offending took place when she was under the influences of drugs or alcohol or both.

"She had quite a traumatic upbringing, but there was a time when she was cooperating well with the help she was getting."

Another 80 days were added by Sheriff Robert McDonald to the 16-month sentence that Devlin is already serving.
