Council car pool scheme has been a success

A FLEET of 70 new local authority pool cars will hit Moray’s roads this summer, bringing with it annual savings of £100,000.

It comes after a pilot scheme saw 30 low emission fuel efficient cars and vans rolled out last November, based at 10 locations across the Moray Council area.

The trial's success led to members of the policy and resources committee today agreeing full implementation of the pool car scheme, which forms part of the council-wide Designing Better Services programme.

Up until now, the 2.8 million business miles totted up every year led to annual mileage claims of £1.2 million.

Although members of the committee heard the scheme had received some negative feedback from staff, they were told generally its reception was "neutral to good".
