DODGE, duck, dip and dive will be the mantra for S1 pupils at a Moray secondary when a dodgeball competition plays out.

The event is the brainchild of Hugh Allan, who was recently named a Sports Ambassador for the area along with fellow Milne's High student Briony Stewart.

Since attending a Young Ambassadors conference in Aberdeen, the pair have been busy organising sporting activities for their peers.

The duo surveyed pupils to establish what sporting opportunities they would be interested in and established an Instagram account, updated with highlights of activities and success stories.

In the first term they ran Boccia sessions at the Fochabers secondary. Briony also linked up with the local Quasar hockey club to deliver after-school sessions for primary and secondary pupils, and Hugh delivered after school basketball and soft archery to local primary school pupils.

This term Hugh is looking to deliver some primary school football, as well as soft archery for a target group within the high school.

He is also planning the S1 dodgeball competition with other school pupils as part of his Competition Organiser training course.

Meanwhile Briony is targeting a hockey coaching course to gain more knowledge for her after-school sessions.

Active Schools coordinator Lorna Young, who nominated the pair as ambassadors, said: "The amount of time and effort these two pupils have committed to helping their community has been inspiring.

"They are two very reliable and enthusiastic young people who want the local schools to have as many opportunities to take part in sport as possible."
