MORAY’S school estate could look very different in the years to come if some of the radical ideas outlined in the sustainable education review go ahead.
A long list of more than 20 options, prepared by consultants following initial community consultation, has been drawn up.
The ideas are being published as a launch board for future community discussion, and have not yet been subject to feasibility study or costing.
A call for public feedback has now been sounded, with Councillor George Alexander urging residents not to let "blind emotion get in the way of clear thinking".
"We all know there is a lot of emotion about education and this argument about the school being at the centre of community," he said.
"But we want schools that are designed for the benefit of the pupils, not necessarily for the benefit of parents. It is the pupils and their education that are at the centre of this."
Under the possibilities published, question marks have been placed over the future of more than 20 primaries, with mergers, new campus schools, extensions and new builds being considered.
Milne’s High School is the only secondary which is closure-threatened, with pupils instead zoned to the new Elgin High School, which is in the process of being replaced.
