Three people from Moray arrested after attempted murder in Rothes

THREE people from Moray have been arrested and have appeared in court after an attempted murder in Rothes on Friday night.

Rachel Baillie (28) and Debbie Baillie (20), from Aberlour, appeared in private at Inverness Sheriff Court on Monday alongside Callum Brown (25), who was listed as living in Elgin.

The trio were arrested on Friday, March 26, after the attempted murder on a 41-year-old man at around 10pm in the Green Street area of Rothes.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We can confirm that two women, aged 20 and 28, and a 25-year-old man, have been arrested and charged in connection with an attempted murder in Rothes.

"The incident took place in the Green Street area around 10pm on Friday, March 26. The victim, a 41-year-old man, was taken to hospital with serious, but not life threatening injuries.

"The three appeared in court on Monday, March 29."

All three are being charged with assault to severe injury, permanent disfigurement, danger of life and attempted murder.

In addition, they are charged with robbery, theft and behaving in a threatening or abusive manner.

Debbie Baillie faces additional charges of assaulting a police officer.

All three defendants made no plea in response to the charges.

They were each released on bail on the understanding that they will have to come back to court at a later date yet to be set.
