A MORAY drama group is casting around for new actors and helpers as it looks to reopen the stage curtains after pandemic lockdowns.

LADS Drama Group will host an open night, entitled "From Lockdown to Limelight", this month, at which they hope to attract some new members.

Before the pandemic the group had around 15 members.

Their last show, Abandonment, was performed at Elgin's Holy Trinity Church hall the week before the first Covid-19 lockdown in March 2020.

Treasurer Beryl Duncan said: "We're reaching out to people who might fancy giving the drama group a go – actors, people to help backstage with scenery and make-up, and for front of house.

"We normally choose a play and we all read it and select who should be in it. Those who don't get a role help out in some other way.

"Sometimes we will do short one-act plays. A couple of years ago we put on a murder mystery dinner party, Murder at the Distillery, with audience participation. We've been thinking about doing something along those lines to start up again.

"It's a lot of fun and a really sociable group."

LADS was previously known as Lhanbryde Amateur Dramatics Society, where rehearsals were held at one time.

The open evening will run at Miltonduff Hall, from 7.30-9pm, on Monday, September 27.
