Upon investigation, they found that a vehicle had collided with a wall on Church Street.

Within the vehicle was 37-year-old Danielle Lawson who was said to be “confused”.

Police conducted a roadside specimen test which gave a reading of 115 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 22 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath.

Lawson’s defence solicitor said that her client had been at a ladies day and that she started drinking after hearing distressing news while she was out.

She added, however, that Lawson accepts she made a “poor decision” and that her “remorse and regret” following the incident was clear.

The solicitor told the court that since the incident the mother of three has turned her life around and is now undergoing a phased return to work.

Sheriff Gordon Fleetwood disqualified Lawson from driving for a period of 16 months which can be reduced by four months if she completes a drink driver rehabilitation course.

Lawson was also fined £600 with a £40 victim surcharge.
