MORAY'S MSP dropped in on the newly refurbished Elgin Youth Café this week to hear about its new employability programme.
SNP MSP Richard Lochhead met the cafe's chief executive, Clair Ferguson.
The new community café supports the Elgin Youth Development Group’s (EYDG) employability programme and helps young people in Moray as they gain experience, learn new skills, and are introduced to the world of work.
The Café @ The Warehouse, which opened earlier this month, aims to support partners, community organisations and local businesses by providing the perfect place to gather for small meetings and networking.
Speaking after his visit, Mr Lochhead said: "The refurbished youth café is looking tremendous and everyone who helped fund the project deserves credit for getting behind such a great cause.
"I really enjoyed catching up with the staff and young people employed at the café.
"The chief executive, Clair Ferguson, explained to me the growing role the organisation is playing in helping young people through an employability programme that introduces the world of work and allows young people to gain invaluable experiences and learn new skills.
"I very much welcome all the effort from the Moray Pathway’s partners who are taking advantage of both public and charitable employability funding to help those who need a helping hand to gain employment, particularly young people who have been disproportionately affected by the pandemic."
