Skotoberfest to offer ‘music for all tastes’ at Castle Fraser in Aberdeenshire
A brand-new north-east festival promises to provide music “for all tastes” when it hosts its debut event next month.
Skotoberfest will take place at Castle Fraser in Aberdeenshire on Saturday, October 11 - and is aiming to become an annual event.
Organisers of the family-friendly, affordable festival are “thrilled” with its line-up of musicians.
Your Vibe Events’ office team - Kay Thomson and Liz Carden, are working around the clock to bring together what they believe will be a “standout occasion” in the north-east calendar.
Event owner Kay Thomson said: “The vision was to bring a full-scale, family-friendly and affordable festival experience to the north-east in the autumn.
“We are delighted to see it coming to life at such a special venue.
“We are absolutely thrilled about this year’s line-up – it’s shaping up to be a fantastic celebration of music and community spirit.”
The music begins at 11am and runs all the way through until 10.30pm, when ceiledh band Broma will top the bill.
Nine acts will take to the staged throughout an action-packed day - although the indentity of one of those remains a well-kept secret for the time being
Kay added: “We’ve got Broma ceilidh band to get everyone up on their feet, an Annie Lennox tribute with a special local connection to Ellon, and a Proclaimers tribute to bring the sounds of one of Scotland’s best-loved bands.
“We are also proud to showcase incredible local talent. We have everything from the Aberdeenshire Saxophone Orchestra and the Turriff Silver Band’s oompah act, to Monza Express.
“It’s going to be a brilliant mix of music for all tastes.
“As for the surprise… that will get everyone up on their feet!”
While organisers remain tight-lipped on that secret set - due to take place from 4pm to 5pm - they have announced plenty of details on the day’s other happenings.
Added to the music, there are performances from Saxophone Orchestra, Starlite Disco DJ, and circus acts including Heartwood Circus and the Moray Flying Circus.
There is a dedicated kids’ zone, which will feature clowns, a bouncy castle and interactive circus shows.
A family ticket for the festival - two adults and three children aged between five and 12 - is £60.
Tickets are £26 for adults, £24 for teenagers (13-17) and £12 for children aged between five and 12.
Children under the age of five go for free and car parking is £2. Tickets can be purchased online at yourvibevents.com/skotoberfest
Festivalgoers are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance as demand is expected to be high and tickets are not guaranteed to be on sale on the day.
