A SCOTTISH musical legend is lined up to play at Fochabers' Arc Sessions later this month.

Dougie MacLean has built an international reputation as a songwriter, composer and extraordinary performer. He has performed in concerts and festivals around the world, including the stages of Carnegie Hall in New York, London’s Festival Theatre and the Sydney Opera House.

His anthem Caledonia topped the Scottish charts and grew to become one of Scotland’s most popular contemporary songs.

The Arc Sessions will welcome Dougie to the Fochabers Institute on Saturday, June 22.

Dougie was awarded an OBE in the New Year's Honours list in recognition of his services to music and charity. He has also recently received two prestigious Tartan Cleff Awards, has been inducted into the Scottish Music Hall of Fame and was given a Lifetime Achievement Award by the BBC.

Mhairi Marwick, who started the Arc Sessions four years ago, said: "I am so excited to have the legendary Dougie MacLean play at the Arc Sessions – it’s going to be a very special night. Caledonia is one of the greatest Scottish songs so it will be particularly special hearing this live."

Tickets can be bought online from www.arcsessions.com or Christie’s Chemist in Fochabers.
