At least a dozen pets have gone missing during the course of the past two months.

No trace has been found of any of them.

Tina Wells, a cat owner from Dufftown, is contacting the police today due to the rising concerns that foul play may be involved.

She said: "Pet cats are disappearing at an alarming rate.

"It's starting to feel like somebody might be taking them for whatever reason.

"It's devastating for the families involved.

"I know one young man who's very distressed after losing two cats and has put up a reward.

"No bodies have been found which is very strange.

"So I think it's important to spread awareness about what might be happening.

"I'm certainly not letting my cats out now unless I'm with them."
