A NEW group is under way in Buckie to help people recover from addiction.

Run by Arrows Service in Moray, the SMART Recovery group aims to help people suffering from addiction by offering a four-point programme to build and maintain motivation, cope with urges, manage thoughts, feelings and behaviours and live a balanced life.

SMART Recovery uses a peer led approach to help people build up their motivation to change and offers a set of proven tools and techniques to support recovery from addiction.

People can stay with SMART as long as they want and can leave when they wish. There is no requirement to make a long-term or lifetime commitment to the programme, just to their recovery and leading a healthier life.

The group meets every Friday, from 10.30am-11.30, in the Buckie North Church.

Quarriers, which runs Arrows Service, offers a range of services to provide practical support to help people learn, grow and be all they can be.
