New Elgin dance classes offer fun way to step into 2022

TWO new dance classes will run in Moray hot on the heels of hit "567Broadway" sessions launched last year.
Brought to Elgin by local instructor John Naples-Campbell, the 567Broadway experience came to Scotland online initially.
Two classes now run at Elgin Academy's dance studio, designed to suit all fitness levels.
The first half of the class involves non-stop cardio dance and strength training, set to Broadway hits. The second half is dedicated to learning a dance combination to a Broadway musical song.
The classes are held on Tuesdays between 7-8pm.
A newly introduced sister class, 567Holywood, will follow a similar format but articipants will work up a sweat to hits from the silver screen. The sessions will run on Thursdays from 7-8pm.
Besides the classes, a silent disco experience has been launched which will see instructor "Jazz Hands John" lead participants on a walking tour of Elgin, teaching dance steps along the way. Each "star" will receive a pair of headphones for the 60-minute "disco journey" through the streets. Step Into Disco will run every second Friday.
John said: "When we started the in-person classes in August we had a small venue but our numbers grew so quickly we eventually had to move to a bigger space.
"We now have on average about 18 people per class and each class is full of laughter and fun. The 'cast' – that's what we call our participants – really wanted another class and we had experimented with 567Hollywood over lockdown.
"Dirty Dancing, Footloose, Pretty Woman all have amazing songs, so our class pays tributes to these iconic films and TV shows."
He added: "I am super excited about our Silent Disco experience – a walking tour of Elgin with a difference. This isn't a fitness class but is part of our family. We want people who experience this to have an incredible time.
"Elgin is a beautiful town so to feel completely free, with no inhibitions, with a pair of headphones, dancing through the streets, it's just epic fun."
Classes start on the week of January 10 and Step Into Disco will start later in January.
