Trusadh: Sgeulachdan a’ Ghlasaidh (Life in Lockdown), produced by Stornoway based MacTV, provides a unique insight into this challenging time as they follow a group of people from all walks of life from the beginning of this year.

The programmes follow the group from when the government announced that the country would go back into lockdown, a devastating blow after a hard winter following similar rules and regulations.

Viewers will find out how these individuals coped with the situation they were faced with, the highs and lows of lockdowns and the restrictions that were imposed on them during a continuous and unprecedented situation.

Contributors include a newly qualified doctor working on a Covid ward in East Kilbride, a family of five living in the Isle of Lewis whose lives were impacted by the virus, and a primary school teacher in Glasgow who is juggling her job as a key worker and being a mother to a young toddler.

There are also contributions from a Stornoway based taxi driver whose livelihood has been impacted by the restrictions, a young man from Aberdeen who caught the virus during the first lockdown of last year who is now battling long covid, and a South Uist based nurse who is heavily involved in the vaccination roll out and unable to travel back to her home in Barra to see her family during the lockdown.

The executive producer of this series Seumas MacTaggart, who is based near Stornoway, also features in the programme because his wife Iona and two of their daughters caught Covid during the Western Isles outbreak earlier this year.

Episodes five and six of Trusadh: Sgeulachdan a’ Ghlasaidh will air on BBC Alba on Wednesday, June 30 and July 7 at 8.30pm. They will also be on the BBC iPlayer for 30 days afterwards.
