No false QR code stickers on Elgin parking payment machines, Moray Council confirms

Moray Council has confirmed that there are no false QR codes on any of its payment machines in car parks around Elgin.

It had been reported earlier this week that scam stickers had been placed on the machines at the Moray Street Car Park.

Following these reports parking attendants checked machines across Elgin yesterday morning and confirmed that there were no QR code stickers on any of them.

The local authority says that its car park attendants actively check these machines for false stickers while doing their rounds.

A post from Moray Council read: “We don't place QR code stickers on our machines, so if you do see them in future please don't scan them or use them to pay - instead search for paybyphone in your app store to download the correct app.

“You can then type in the car park number (as displayed on machines) or search for nearby car parks.”
