Noisy exhaust led to Moray drug driving ban

A 20-year-old man has been given a ban after being caught driving while on cocaine.

.

Joshua Penman was initially stopped by police because his vehicle was making too much noise on the B9011 road between Forres and Kinloss, shortly before 10pm on July 14 last year.

A subsequent test revealed cocaine in his blood supply.

It was also found that his vehicle’s broken exhaust pipe was allowing gas to escape into the atmosphere without first going through the silencer.

Penman was supported in Elgin Sheriff Court by his family and by his employer who wrote a character reference for him.

The court heard that the Mundole resident has been on his way back from a music festival when he was caught.

He was disqualified for a year and fined £300.
