O2 store in Elgin to close as company’s future in the town remains uncertain





Elgin’s O2 store will close its doors for the final time this evening.

A sign on the door of the mobile network operator’s unit within the St Giles Centre states that the shop will close for good at 5.30pm.

O2 are yet to confirm whether they will open a store elsewhere in Elgin.

All businesses within the centre were told on Wednesday, January 8, that they would have to pack up and leave the shopping centre by January 20.

WHSmith has closed and will not open another Elgin store, the company have confirmed. The Works is shutting as well.

Subway is not likely to remain in the town, Gordon and MacPhail has shut its temporary unit in the centre and EE has not confirmed its future.

Argos would like to remain in Elgin, as would Ramsdens and Waterstones. Ashers and Vodafone have both committed to Elgin.

The impact on Elgin Bus Station remains unclear.
