Elgin’s Edgar Road reopened after ‘old training mortar’ removed





A device believed to be an old training mortar has been removed from Elgin’s Edgar Road.

The road was closed on Wednesday afternoon after police were informed of an ‘unexploded ordnance device’ in the area.

It is believed that the mortar was found in the Tyock Burn, which runs alongside the road.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Please be advised EOD personnel attended Edgar Road in Elgin and removed an unexploded ordnance device.

“The item found around 12.35pm on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 is believed to be an old training mortar.

“The cordon has been removed.”
