Former Elgin City player fined for ‘messing with hopes and dreams’ of youngsters

A former footballer has been fined £1500 for breaching consumer protection laws while running a business that offered training courses in the sport for youngsters.

Ceiran McLean, who played for Elgin City and Buckie Thistle, appeared in Elgin Sheriff Court last week.

Drink driver who caused crash on bridge banned from roads

A drink driver who caused a crash on a busy bridge has been banned from the roads.

Wieslsaw Stecko (64) admitted the charge when he appeared at Banff Sheriff Court.

Drunk trio obstructed officers during alleyway arrest

A woman and two men have been sentenced following a disturbance outside an Elgin bar.

The police arrested Sky Mitchell in the alleyway besides Dicey’s because she was drunkenly shouting and swearing at about 2am on August 4 last year.

A man with a history of domestic violence has been warned to either change his ways or go to prison.

Benjamin Smith was arrested on August 9 at an address in Forres after his partner rang 999.

Former Moray pub boss jailed for sex crimes

A former pub boss, found guilty of a number of sexual offences in Moray spanning over 30 years, has been jailed.

David Hill, formerly of the Station Hotel in Burghead, was found guilty of three charges by majority verdict after a trial at Inverness Sheriff Court in early September.

A Dingwall paedophile has been found guilty of sexual offences against three children.

Lee Taylor (43) was on trial at Inverness Sheriff Court where the jury found him guilty of engaging in sexual activity with, or towards a girl, under the age of 16.

Victim was shot in the head during teenager’s air rifle spree

A 16-year-old boy who went on a shooting spree with a gas-powered air-rifle hit a man in the head with a ball-bearing.

The teenager fired several volleys at nearby properties on Millar Street in Elgin over the course of two hours on November 4 last year.

A 20-year-old fractured a man’s skull after a one-punch attack outside a Forres pub.

Makenzie Hewitson - who has three previous convictions for assault - knocked his drinking partner unconscious outside the Newmarket Bar on Tolbooth Street.
