A NEW bus service connecting Elgin with Aviemore will be run over the summer months.

Launching on July 8, Stagecoach North Scotland says the increased service follows on from trials in previous years.

Service 39 will operate three return journeys per day connecting Aviemore with Elgin and four return trips on Saturdays.

The new connection will provide links to Citylink services in Aviemore either for those travelling south or for visitors connecting to the Moray area.

The service will be closely monitored over the trial period, which runs until October 26.

In addition, the summer Sunday service between Dufftown and Elgin will return from July 14 until October 27.

Following a successful trial in 2018, the service will return on a two-hourly frequency during the day.

David Liston, managing director for Stagecoach North Scotland, said: "We are committed to making travelling by bus as attractive an option for all as possible and will look forward to welcoming everyone on board from July 8."
