Police have confirmed seven instances of threatening and abusive behaviour in one month in Forres
THREATENING and abusive behaviour dominated the official crime report for the Forres area during June.
The Forres and Speyside Community Policing Team confirmed there were seven occurrences during the period, as well as instances of assault, drugs possession, theft, vandalism and motoring offences.
Police inspector Neil Morrison confirmed the monthly report to Forres Community Council covers progress the force has made in dealing with public priorities for the Lossiemouth and Fochabers, Forres and Speyside areas.
He added: “The report aims to highlight emerging issues, and to provide crime prevention advice and guidance to community council members and residents.
“Our focus is to reduce crime and disorder, help create safer communities and respond effectively to local concerns.”
A youth was charged for threatening and abusive behaviour, and referred to the Youth Justice Management Unit.
Seven further reports were received of threatening and abusive behaviour. Four people were charged and will appear in court. One was issued a recorded police warning. Positive lines of enquiry are ongoing for the other two.
Two people were traced and placed in custody following reports of a breach of bail.
There were eight reports of assault in July. Five people were charged in connection with the incidents and positive lines of enquiry are ongoing for the remaining three.
One person was charged and reported to the Procurator Fiscal following an assault on police officers.
Four people were charged having being found in possession of a controlled substance. A report was sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
Four reports of theft were made over the last month. Positive lines of enquiry are ongoing.
There were also five reports of vandalism during July. Enquiries remain ongoing via CCTV and house-to-house interviews.
A motorist was reported to the Procurator Fiscal for driving without insurance.
Police received a report of someone suspected to be driving whilst unfit. The vehicle was quickly traced; the driver arrested and charged.
A report was made of a motorist failing to stop after an accident. Enquiries remain ongoing.
Inspector Morrison added: “Contact the policing team if there are any issues you wish to raise or discuss.”
