Moray firm Jack Carmichael Flooring purchased by former employees
Two tradesmen have returned to the firm where they learned their craft - but this time as its new owners.
Aaron Christie and Ross Campbell have taken the reins of Jack Carmichael Flooring, an Elgin company established in 1963.
Outgoing director Neil Carmichael, the third generation of Carmichaels in the business, said the buyout had "secured the company’s future".
Firm stalwart Mr Carmichael helped to guide Ross and Aaron during their first stint in the business, before the pair left to establish the successful Campbell and Christie Flooring.
He added: "After a few years away gaining additional skills and knowledge working privately with their own business, they have come back and secured the company’s future for many years to come.
"Aaron and Ross intend to continue trading with the same values, staff and suppliers."
Mr Carmichael added that current customers should notice little difference at the company, founded by Jack Carmichael before being passed on to Brian Carmichael who led the business between 1976 and 1995.
However, he added: "There are plans to update our showroom and extend displays of our key products.
“They have also recruited additional staff - allowing us to keep up with the ever-increasing demand on our services."
Even creating availability for installation before Christmas if required!"
The long-time owner said he is set to stay on until the end of 2024 and as an ad hoc consultant from then on.
He added: “Jack Carmichael Flooring is the largest local commercial flooring installer and maintain all local authority buildings, are the key NHS contractor for Moray as well as supplier to most public agencies.
“We are the only Contract Flooring Association member in Moray.
“Our retail showroom in Pinefield Industrial Estate, Elgin, leads the way locally for high quality carpets and flooring.
“We supply all brands of flooring, if you already have made choices, we can provide competitive quotes against our competitors.
“All our staff our directly employed and are fully qualified “floor layers”, no other local company can claim this.”
