LAMBS being hand reared on a farm near Huntly have been mauled.
It is suspected that a badger was responsible for the cruel death of one lamb and severe injuries to three others.
The dead lamb and two others are around two weeks old and the third almost a month old.
They were in two separate pet lamb pens being hand reared because their mothers did not have sufficient milk to feed them.
The surviving lambs were given pain relief and had their wounds treated with an antibiotic spray.
The farmer's wife who made the awful discovery this morning said: "I think the badger probably used the steps that I have to get into the pens then made its exit using the pet lamb feeder. It was a vicious attack.
"One of the injured lambs is visibly shaking after the trauma so I have given it a big cuddle. Hopefully they can all survive."
