Moray snowfall sees wintry start to New Year
Moray has had a bracing start to 2025, with pictures showing wintry conditions.
After a week of flood warnings, a cold snap saw snowfall begin on the evening of New Year’s Day.
Continuing through the night in some areas, difficult driving conditions were experienced in some rural areas.
Photographs show roads in the Aberlour area completely white, while Cooper Park in Elgin was shown with a light covering.
At the time of publication, a yellow weather warning for snow and ice was in place across Moray, Aberdeenshire and the Highlands until 10am on Friday, January 3.
Difficult driving conditions were reported on the A941 road between Dufftown and Huntly, along with slow traffic on the A95 between Keith and Maggieknockater, and between Aberlour and Kinermony.
Snow gates on the A939, at Cock Bridge and Tomintoul, were closed for more than 12 hours from around 5pm on New Year’s Day.
