Plans in place for Elgin High Street building transformation after six years of disuse

An Elgin High Street building could be set for a transformation after close to six years of disuse.

In 2019 the town’s William Hill closed its doors at 144-148 High Street. It has remained empty ever since.

However, Scotbet, which describes itself as Scotland’s largest independent bookmaker, will now be moving into the building.

The business lodged a betting premises licence in May last year and has now submitted a building warrant for £90,000 of work.

The work includes alterations to the internal layout of the building to form a new betting office.

It also includes plans to upgrade the front facade.
