Police appeal following robbery

POLICE have made a renewed appeal for information after a 71-year-old woman was assaulted and robbed in her remote farmhouse.

The robber made off with a three figure sum of money following the incident. A second man was seen in the area around the time of the incident.

A man aged between 30 and 40 went to the woman’s house at Lower Cabrach, near Huntly, offering to sell coal.

When she declined he forced his way in uninvited and assaulted her.

The incident took place on Friday, June 24 at 7.30pm.

Investigating Officer, Detective Constable Andrew Wilson said: "Thankfully the female victim was uninjured but she was understandably left extremely shocked by what happened.

"This is a deplorable crime carried out against a vulnerable elderly female. I am appealing for anyone with information regarding the crime, or who recognises the description of the suspects, to contact the police."

The robber was around 5ft 10in tall, with short dark hair and stubble. He was wearing a dark hat, black thigh length jacket which had writing on the front, dark coloured trousers and distinctive black knee length boots which had white zigzag laces up the front with fur at the top.

A second male, who was seen in the area, is described as around 20 years old with short fair hair and a pale face. He was wearing a red top with white sleeves. A small yellow coloured car was also seen in the area at the time which may or may not be connected to the crime.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Grampian Police on 0845 600 5 700 or Crimestoppers, if they want to remain anonymous, on 0800 555 111.
