Police arrest man (35) in connection with Elgin hotel fire





POLICE have arrested and charged a 35-year-old man in connection with a wilful fire in Elgin.

Emergency services were called to Ladyhill House on Hill Street at around 2am on Friday, June 21.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service sent six appliances who worked to put the fire out and make the area safe before leaving the scene.

There were no reported casualties.

The man is due to appear at Elgin Sheriff Court today (June 24).

Detective Sergeant Keith Rennie said: ā€œIā€™d like to thank everyone who came forward with information and the local community for their help and support during our investigations.ā€
