Banff man who has been missing for more than a year is focus of renewed police appeal





Police have renewed an appeal for a man who has been missing for more than a year.

Officers are continuing to seek the assistance of the public in trying to locate Robert Gibson (74) from Banff.

Known as Bob, he was reported missing to the police on, Monday, October 23, 2023. He is around 5’ 7’’ tall, slim build and thinning, grey hair.

There is no last confirmed sighting of Bob, and it is believed he was last seen around September 2023.

Detective Inspector Andrew Wilson said: “More than a year has passed since Bob was reported missing and we remain extremely concerned for him.

“Bob was known to walk a route along the River Deveron and extensive land and water searches were carried out with no trace of him.

“All other enquiries have also not found any trace of him.

“I would ask anyone who may have seen Bob or who has any information on where he may have gone to contact us as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information is asked to call officers, quoting incident number 1990 of October 23, 2023.
