Police seek youth who coughed in health worker's face

Police are seeking a teenager who assaulted a healthcare worker as she was travelling home by deliberately coughing at her.

The incident happened in Banchory at around 1.40pm on Friday.

The woman was driving along an unclassified road near Inchmarlo Golf Course when she saw someone sitting on the ground waving to attract her attention.

When she stopped the youth moved towards her.

He then coughed directly in her face, telling her that she would now get Coronavirus.

The youth ran off into the woods laughing, where he is believed to have joined a group of other teenagers.

The incident is being treated as assault.

Sergeant Garry Garrow from Police Scotland said: "This kind of behaviour is totally unacceptable and will not be tolerated. It left the woman distressed and fearful.

"I would also ask parents to remind their children that this kind of behaviour is more than just a prank.

"It can cause genuine fear and increased anxiety in the current climate."
