POLICE officers will revisit Elgin's Doocot Park tonight – a week after a report of a sexual assault there.

The assault occurred at around 1am last Friday, June 21, close to North Street. A 33-year-old woman was uninjured but left shaken by the incident.

A police probe has run throughout the past week, with additional patrols carried out in the area to reassure local people.

Officers leading the investigation are following a positive line of enquiry but continue to appeal to anyone with information to contact them, in particular if it relates to the hours between 11pm last Thursday night and 1.30am on Friday morning.

Officers would like to speak to a man described as being in his twenties, of a slim build, around 5ft 7 to 6ft in height, who was wearing a black hooded top. He was last seen walking into Doocot Park.

Detective Inspector David Howieson said: "Numerous people have assisted with our enquiries so far and I would like to thank them once again for their help.

"I appreciate that at the time of night this incident happened the area would have been quiet. However, I hope that by revisiting the scene one week on we can keep the appeal fresh in people’s minds and carry out further timely enquiries.

"Please be assured that extensive enquiries continue to identify the man responsible."

Anyone with information on the incident should call Police Scotland on 101, quoting reference number 0156 of June 21. Crimestoppers can also be contacted anonymously on 0800 555111.
