MORAY'S MSP has tested positive for Covid-19 during a busy week which saw him mingling with global ministers at the COP26 UN climate change conference in Glasgow.

SNP MSP Richard Lochhead confirmed his positive PCR test result in a Twitter post on Wednesday, November 10.

The Minister for Just Transition, Employment and Fair Work said he had been alerted as a close contact the day before.

Mr Lochhead had attended COP26-related events in Glasgow and Edinburgh on Monday, and in the UN Blue Zone on Saturday.

He said: "I've received a positive PCR test after being alerted as a close contact by the app on my phone.

"I have no symptoms so far and am very relieved that I am double vaccinated.

"I'll continue working remotely during self-isolation.

"Thank you to Scotland's NHS."

He added: "I’m especially disappointed that this means I will miss the Remembrance Sunday parade in Keith that I was due to attend.

"These events are important to the local community and I’m sad that for the first time since being elected as Moray's MSP, I won’t be able to join with the community to remember those who have served, and lost their lives, for our country."

Mr Lochhead had been due to attend COP26 events on Tuesday, but called off his attendance when alerted by the contact tracing app. He will take part in some meetings virtually this week.
