The Prime Minister today recalled members of the cabinet as he set the date for the next General Election in the UK.

Ministers earlier today cancelled meetings including Aberdeenshire West MP Andrew Bowie, minister in the Department of Energy, Security and Net Zero, who called off an interview he was due to have on BBC Radio Wales Drive programme this evening about an announcement on nuclear power.

Appearing outside No10 Downing Street live on TV.the PM said: “Now is the moment to chose its future. Earlier today I spoke with the King to dissolve parliament and this has been agreed for July 4. I am proud of what we have achieved and the bold actions we have taken. I have been guided by what has been right, not what has been easy. On July 5 either Keir Starmer or myself will be Prime Minister.
