A PROSPECTIVE Forres councillor is set to speak at the Scottish Conservative Party Conference in Aberdeen this week.

Local vet Kathleen Robertson, who was recently announced as the Tory candidate in the upcoming Local Government Elections, will speak for a few minutes at the event, which will be attended by Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Scottish Tory leader Douglas Ross.

Kathleen's original plan was to attend the event, taking place at the P+J Live on Friday and Saturday, to learn more about what being a councillor might be like – but she got an email last week asking her to speak.

"I've been thrown in at the deep end a wee bit," she said. "I've never been to a party conference before, so it's my first time going.

"It's an honour and privilege to be asked to speak, but I'm a bit nervous to be doing so on the same stage as the Prime Minister, Scottish Conservative leader and cabinet ministers."

Kathleen is set to speak to the crowd for a few minutes between 2pm and 2.40pm on the Friday. The topic is Stronger Communities and Local Government, with Kathleen hoping to draw on her experience with Forres Community Council.
She will then stay over for the Saturday, where she hopes to learn a bit more about becoming a councillor.

Moray's MP Douglas Ross will be meeting Boris Johnson for the first time in 2022 at the event, after withdrawing his letter of no confidence in the PM last week.

The event is set to be livestreamed online. For more information, visit www.scottishconservatives.com/c2022.
