Public toilets in Moray, including Lossiemouth Findhorn and Portknockie, upgraded after Visit Moray Speyside secures funding

A number of public toilets for local communities and visitors along the Moray coast have been upgraded and retained thanks to thousands of pounds in funding.

Visit Moray Speyside secured £45,000 from the Beatrice Community Fund in order to upgrade the toilets in Lossiemouth, Findhorn and Portknockie to ensure they continue to benefit locals and visitors throughout 2025.

Gemma Cruickshank, CEO of Visit Moray Speyside, said: "Public toilets are a vital service for local communities and visitors to the Moray Speyside region, so it’s really important that they are kept open, safe and clean for everyone all year round.

“We’re really grateful to SSE Renewables and the Beatrice Community Fund for helping us retain and upgrade the facilities in Lossiemouth, Findhorn and Portknockie, which are all tourist hotspots.”

Visit Moray Speyside works with almost 400 tourism, leisure and hospitality business members and industry partners across the region to help bring visitors to the area to boost the local economy.

Kirsty Partridge, SSE Community Investment Manager for the North Highlands, said: “The funding for the public toilets along the Moray Coast is a good example of how the funding we are providing can make a difference to more remote communities who would not otherwise have these amenities.”
