A POSITIVE case of Covid-19 has been confirmed at a Moray primary school.

A primary one pupil at St Gerardine Primary in Lossiemouth has tested positive for the virus.

As a result, all primary one pupils have been told to stay home today, with an "enhanced clean" being carried out before their return.

The school remains open for the remainder of pupils.

A Moray Council spokesperson said: "Our main concern, first and foremost, is the wellbeing and good health of the child concerned and we wish them a speedy recovery and hope their family stay well.

"We are in contact with NHS Grampian’s public health team, who are advising us on next steps for the school and families.

“Initial advice has been passed to parents and carers at St Gerardine Primary School giving details of what to do if their child displays symptoms of Covid-19. We will continue to contact parents and carers directly with any further updates as they emerge.

“An enhanced clean has been carried out in line with Public Health advice to allow P1 pupils and staff to return safely as soon as possible.

“We ask anyone contacted through the Test and Protect process to follow the guidance given, and any health-related questions are directed to the NHS.”
