MORAY College UHI will celebrate a milestone anniversary in 2021.

The college, now part of the University of the Highlands and Islands, will mark 50 years since it was established.

As part of a year-long programme of celebrations, the college launched a 50th anniversary logo competition among local primary schools.

That prompted a great response with a flood of entries from pupils.

A large entry was whittled down to a shortlist of just five and the winner was Rebecca Morrice, of Craigellachie Primary School.

Jacqui Taylor, head of communications at the college, said of Rebecca’s winning design: “We were overwhelmed with entries for the Moray College 50th birthday logo competition and the panel of judges had a really challenging job to shortlist from 94 to 5. We received a wide range of designs mainly all depicting Moray and/or the college and the courses we offer. It was clear that the young people had undertaken research before submitting their individual entries and it was very difficult to select the final five.

“Rebecca’s entry was selected because we felt it would have a great deal of impact as the logo for the 50th birthday. It is bright and vibrant and the design will be able to effectively be replicated as a logo. The colours and shapes are also in keeping with the college’s branding.

“We want to thank all of the entrants and the schools for their wonderful ideas and designs.”

The other finalists were: Carly Jo McLennan, Eilidh Milne – Cluny Primary and Lillie Murray and Noah Murray – Milbank Primary. The other entries can be seen at www.northern-scot.co.uk
