FROM Monday the need to book a recycling slot in Forres, Keith, Buckie and Dallachy will be removed.

Restrictions on the number of visits per household will also be lifted.

The restrictions at household waste and recycling centres have been in place throughout the pandemic due to the physical distancing requirement, so that numbers on-site at any one time could be controlled.

The booking system is to be retained at the Chanonry centre, due to the compact nature and layout of the site, for the health and safety of staff and customers.

The number of people allowed on-site in Elgin has, however, been increased to ensure a more flexible approach to access and from Monday there will be no restriction on the number of pre-booked visits residents can make for Chanonry.

Moray Council’s environmental protection manager, Colin Bell, said: “We’re grateful for the patience shown by residents over the last 18 months while we kept the booking system in place in the interests of staff and customer safety. We know it wasn’t ideal but in the circumstances it was the right procedure to have in place.

“We’d ask residents visiting our recycling centres to be respectful of our staff who, after working with strictly controlled numbers for some time, now need to re-adjust to the higher capacity on-site.

“Details of opening hours and a reminder of what waste is accepted at our recycling centres can be found on our website.”
